This week, as we continue our read aloud of Harry Potter, we came upon the chapter about the Mirror of Erised. Harry finds himself in front of a mirror which has the amazing ability to reflect your deepest heart's desire. For Harry, this is to be reunited with his parents and other Potter family members he has never met. When Harry's friend Ron looks into the mirror, he sees himself outshining all of his older brothers, receiving accolades and honors as Head Boy and Quidditch Captain.
This idea of one's deepest desire can be a provoking one to think on. We asked the kids to draw and write about what they think they would see if they looked into the Mirror of Erised. Would they see a successful future in the career of their dreams? Would they get to see pets or family members who have passed and are very missed?
Ask your child to point out their picture below and tell you what they think they would see in the Mirror of Erised!
