Discovery Museum: Sound

This week, we had the Discovery Museum come for a visit to teach kids about how sound travels.  The students had a great time rotating through stations and exploring the way sound moves.  Tuning forks and water was the most popular, as who doesn't like to make a splash in life?  There is a link in the email that came home today with some information about taking a survey (your child has a QR code printed on a scrap of paper in their backpacks if you'd like to access the survey that way) for a free admission to the museum for your child.  It is a great place with loads of hands-on activities if you've never visited.  It is located in Acton, so not too far away.

Mythical Monster Relay!

Inspired by the adventures of Odysseus, we did a relay race of the monsters he encountered this week: the cyclops with one eye swinging his club, Scylla with her six heads (this monster required two partners) snapping at people in ships who pass her cliff, Charybdis catching ships in her whirlpool, and the Sirens with their alluring song to attract ships to their island (and their doom!).  A lot of fun was had by all! We did multiple races so that kids could try out all the different parts.

Check out the pictures below from our races!
