This week, we introduced the kids to the gods and goddesses of Olympus through read alouds and a slideshow. These amazing mythological figures held a lot of sway over the life of the Ancient Greeks. Each held their own sphere of influence over natural phenomena, human affairs as well as their emotions. Despite their divine powers, they had very human personalities with the potential for great kindness and mercy as well as jealousy, rage and petty squabbles amongst themselves.
The kids were asked to choose which god or goddess they would want to be, were they given the chance. Some chose gods or goddesses they felt a connection to through similar talents or interests while others chose gods or goddesses with a power they did not have but would like to wield. Read the responses below for the pantheon that would make up the 1-2s should they ever get to live out this opportunity!
