Snow Snake!
This week, the 1-2s worked with their 3-4 buddies to create tracks for a Native American past-time called Snow Snake. The Native Americans of the Iroquois League of Five Nations made snow snake runs as both a means of sport in winter months as well as a way to shuttle information between lodges. The aim is to create a smooth track (helped by the icing over of the rain we had on Wednesday) and use your skills to throw the snake stick (or mud-puppy as the smaller stick is known) as far down the track as you can. The kids had fun building the tracks, testing which ones were the best, and working on their throwing technique, which was a popular choice at recess on Thursday. Check out the picture and videos below that show the process from start to finish.
