This week we continued our study of Ancient Greek architecture. Kids built temples out of blocks, legos and other materials to design their own construction. Students also had an opportunity to further investigate by completing one of two STEM challenges. One challenge explored the structural importance of columns. Using paper cups as columns and baking trays as floors, the challenge was to see how high they could build a structure that would still support their weight. The other challenge, (based on the aeronautic inventive work of Daedalus) was to create a set of wings that would support a small figure or stuffed animal in flight. We were impressed with their constructions - even parents got into the fun! The pictures below showcase their ingenuity in these endeavors.
