We have been deep in our study of poetry in the 1-2s! In their writing, the kids have been drawing inspiration from published poets who are well known for their musical, emotional, or image rich poetry (like Shel Silverstein, Langston Hughes and Valerie Worth). In an effort to capitalize on these visualizing opportunities, we asked the kids to choose a poem from a published book that spoke to them to make an illustration of. They created a scene and then cut the stanzas, lines and words of their poems apart to collage onto the picture. They look very stunning on display in the hall and we wanted to share them with you too.
