Bird Walk Surprise!

This week, while out taking a bird walk, we got an unexpected tour of the DPW site behind Sargent Field. We got to see trucks unloading loads of salt in preparation of this weekend's storm. We couldn't believe how much there was - mountains of salt! There was also an enormous container of road brine to treat the roads with - the DPW is ready for the snow.

We also got to see lots of other trucks and the big plow blades that will soon be called into action. But the best find was the raven's nest up in the rafters! It was bigger than any bird's nest we've seen around here. We hope the ravens will return to this nest this spring when they are ready to lay eggs. Hopefully, we'll get a glimpse of some baby ravens!

Check out the pictures below of our fun (and safe) pit exploration!
