Bird Masks!

Today the 1-2 kids shared the bird mask projects they have been working on for the past two weeks!
The finished products look amazing and are now on display in the hallway outside both classrooms. The students also did a great job presenting the research they did on their bird and had a lot of facts to share about their bird's unique markings, nesting habits, egg-laying, habitat, migration patterns, places where their bird is the state bird or a sports mascot, when their bird is active, what to call a group of that kind of bird, how to tell males from females, and much more. Some of the research, however, turned up the troubling fact that the population of birds all around is less than it was even a few years ago. For a group of students so in tune with nature and the environment, this is a hard reality.
