Snow Fort Collaboration

This week we are starting our work on collaboration. Our first project was a snow fort. Kids worked in groups of 4 to come up with a plan for their snow fort and build as much as they could in our outside time. As they did, we watched and listened to see how our students worked together as a team. We noticed lots of elements of good collaboration - discussions to resolve disagreements, helping one another out to complete a team goal, making recommendations without harsh criticism, and lots of encouraging language among team members! Our groups reflected on the things that they thought we could improve on: time management, staying focused, stopping to evaluate progress and make revisions to the plan if needed, and not arguing when a disagreement arises.
