Snow Day Challenge - Odes to Snow!

Our young poets drew great inspiration from the blizzard that brought about our snow day.  A great collection is gathered together below with poems ranging from ones with beautiful images to others with playful language and even some clever acrostic poems. Enjoy!

''Swirly snow''

Snow snow swirly snow

You blow in my hair

You blow in my face

Since its almost spring

Why do you swirl around my house?

by Nora Shine

Gabe Newman's Poetry Reading:

Beautiful Snowflakes
Twisting and turning
In different designs and then
It rains down like a white
Orb that has mysteries to its self
Designs like nobody has ever
Seen before like pencils
That have poked holes in paper
And when it touches the earth the whole earth
Turns white that’s the whole purpose of
A Snowflake
By Emmett & Truman

White, White, White Snow
Like a blanket of white, soaring through the air
There are snowball fights, snowmen, just with that soft, soft, soft snow
You can lick it, you
gobble it up
You can make snow angels
You can sled on it, ski on it, snowboard on it
You can even make snow forts with snow
Snow's like a soft blanket you lay on
There are so many ways you can play with this snow
by Luke Hernandez

Xavier Stewart

There is so much snow, I can’t say no.
So white so clean like shining light.
Such white snow I have never seen before
Like a shiny white floor.
There is so much snow, I can’t say no.
Hay mucha nieve, no puedo decir no.
Muy blanca, muy limpia como una luz brillante.
Muy blanca nieve, yo nunca vi antes
Como un suelo brillante.
Hay mucha nieve, no puedo decir no.

"Deep, Deep Snow" by Annie Mullen Cold and windy. Sting, sting, sting. My face is covered in snow. Snow is falling. Snow as white as clouds. Deep, deep snow. Tasty and refreshing. Melting in your mouth. Avoid the yellow snow 🐶

Snow is wet as a cloud.
Snow is hard sometimes as a rock.
Snow is puffy like a teddy bear

by Adalynn Mudd

SnowflakesBy Annelise Susan Potter (With some help from her brother...)
Flakes of ice that fall from far-up lands above us
come down to meet our world.
Frosty flakes layer on plots of green,
when mammal create the animal unseen.

SNOW
Snow as white as paper.
Snow soft and cold.
Sounds like nothing falling from the sky.
