November Town Forest Walk

We are finishing up our study of seeds next week.  So, our Town Forest walk this month was a quest for cones. Groups conducted a scavenger hunt looking for different kinds of cones and types of evergreen leaves/needles.  The trickiest item was trying to find a tree with overlapping scales instead of needles. A picture of this type of leaf (from a cedar tree) is shown below.



It was a warm, sunny walk with a beautiful fall landscape. Pictures below capture some of our great finds.
